Editing Process(part 2)

 Helloooo, today I’m going to talk about the final editing touches and how we made our opening scene even better.

We realized after reviewing our rough cut that some of the transitions weren’t very smooth. So, we made some minor changes to some of the clips and where the cuts were made. Additionally, we made sure the flashback scenes of the party were very bright and colorful in comparison to the bedroom scene. This way, there was a contrast between reality and chaos.

We also made some changes to the volume of the audio. At first, the volume of the footsteps and the party music was way too loud. After adjusting it, it made the video look way more professional.

Lastly, we added our logo at the beginning of the video. This made it look like a real opening to a movie and not just random clips thrown together.

Overall, I think post-production really showed me how important editing is in comparison to filming. This is because this determines what the final product of the video is.

Editing process (part 1)

 Heyyy, today I’m going to talk about how we started editing our opening and putting everything together.

Well, when we imported all the shots, it was a bit messy, if you know what I mean. Some shots were a bit too long, and the shots weren’t matching perfectly, so we had to trim all the shots carefully and put them together so that the sneaking-in part made sense.

I think one of the things that really mattered was the pace of the shots. For the beginning, we made the shots a bit longer, so it was more dramatic, but when the mom opens the door, we made the shots a bit faster so that it was more dramatic and shocking. We also adjusted the brightness a bit so that it didn’t look too dark, considering it was early morning.

Adding the sound effects, like the ticking of the clock and the sound of the feet, really made the scene come alive, because if we didn’t add the sound effects, it was a bit empty, if you know what I mean.

Editing really taught me the importance of the little things, because they really change the mood of the scene.

Production post (messages on ipad)

 Helloooo, today I’m going to tell you about how we filmed our digital props with the iPad for the text message and the online poster.

In our opening scene, Luca already knows about the party, so the text message is actually just his friend asking him if he is going. It’s a realistic conversation between the two friends. We chose to use the iPad rather than a phone because the screen is bigger, which makes it easier for the audience to see the text message on camera.

Filming the iPad was a bit trickier than we thought it would be. At first, the brightness was too high on the screen, which caused glare. So we adjusted the brightness and also tilted the screen a bit so it would not reflect too much light. We also made sure that Luca was holding the iPad naturally so it did not look too posed or awkward.

With the poster, we opened the same After Hours design online so it would look like a screenshot from a social media post that his friend sent him. This shows the audience that the party is organized and not a random party.

Although it is a small scene, the use of the iPad actually adds a bit more realism to the opening scene for our target audience.

Group Meeting #2

Hellooo, today we had a group meeting and it helped build everyone's ideas on a deeper level. At first i didnt know what i was doing for my CCR but after Henry said that he wanted to make his an award show i got the idea to make mine athlete an interview after a game. But later thought of a movie premiere, like ill be walking in the carpet and ill be called on to answer some questions by reporters about my movie. While answering the questions ill be stopped to take pictures with actors and fans. 

i really liked Henrys blogposts since it gives off a light mood and it was kind of funny with the minion on the side. Everyone helped each other and we enjoyed doing this activity.

After Hour (props)

 Hello, today I’m going to talk about one small but important prop in our opening which is the stuffed animals and pillows under the blanket.

As The main character sneaks out of bed, he had to fool his mom into thinking he was still in bed. That’s why we had him use some pillows and plushies to make it look like there was a body under the blanket.

Not only did the plushies help make Luca’s sneaking out more believable, but it also showed a little about his character too. Even though he’s confident enough to sneak out and go to a party, having plushies in his bedroom makes him seem a little younger and more innocent than he actually is.

So, the plushies in the scene but help with the realism and adds to his character development too.

After Hours (poster)

 Heyyy, today I’m going to talk about how I came up with making this poster for our film opening.

I knew I wanted to make sure the poster connected to our title After Hours and the party theme. Hence, the dark background also tied into the drama/ coming of age aspect and then bold AFTER HOURS in the center. 

The top part has spotlights to show that it’s a party and club setting While at the bottom are people with their hands up to showcase the chaos of the party Additionally, I added realistic details on the flyer like doors open at 11 juniors only and dress code all black. 

To be honest I just chose a random date for the party, but overall I like how the poster came out and I'm going to print it out and were going to have it on the main characters room.

Logo creation

 Hey, while in class me, vale and Luca were creating a logo at first we all just created a logo together. Our company name was V3DAL but we later changed it to VAMB because it looked asthetically pleasing and it sounds like a real company.

After that we all did one individually and Mrs.Stoklosa chose the best that is shown at the end.

We decided to stick with it and use it.
We chose the last one since it represents the florida summer theme.

Planning Post

 Helloooo, today I am going to be planning the lighting for our drama/coming of age opening. So, for the first scene where Luca sneaks back into his room, the lighting should be quite natural, like it’s early in the morning. It should not be too bright, nor should it be dark.

maybe some lamp lighting near the desk would be good so it casts a sort of glow and some shadows. 

However, for the scene where Luca’s mom catches him, perhaps the lighting should be quite harsh. Maybe some sudden lighting, like turning on the main room light, would be good so it’s quite sudden and dramatic. For the flashback scenes earlier in the night, where Luca goes to the party, perhaps the lighting should be quite bright and colorful. Maybe some LED lights would be good so it’s quite exciting and vibratant.

Audio planning

 Welcome back I will be addressing audio. At the start the clock will be thicking and also the noise of the window opening and then the main character(Luca) landing on the floor and jumping on the bed and making it creek. After that some light footsteps would approach and get louder and then the door snaps open.also have the car rolling down as it picks him up being able to hear a little of the music playing. 

Then as they approach the party you would be able to hear some the party music and people talking and then Luca and Mario opening the gate and entering. 

Setting planning

 For the first scene we would have a room that has a desk with a laptop on it and then have a bed in the middle of it and obviously has a window so the main character can sneak in probably with the lights off or maybe with the lights on I don’t know yet. 

then for the scene of arriving to the party we’re gonna have a big house be the party house and then have the characters go around the house. And walk through grass to get to the back yard and then the party is happing there

 heyy, Our groups characters are going to be wearing nice party clothes like the picture under

Most of the outfits are mostly random but for our characters they are going to be dark colors like dark blue and black. the shoes would be black. 

and then the mom would wear like a light shirt probably a light orange shirt and she would have a sandal on her hand while scolding the main character.

  Helloooo, at first my groups character was going to be a known loser by the school but then we changed it to someone that's confident and the life of the party. As we kept discussing we decided to make him excited at the beginning but then after have him regret his decision of sneaking out and realize his mistake. After we thought of that we decided to use our real names the main character is going to be called Luca and the friend that picks him up will be Mario.

Summary of idea

 Hello there again, I'll be summarizing my idea for the film opening and major inspirations.

At first we start with the title in white bold letters and a black background saying AFTER HOURS then its going to show a digital clock around 7 or 8 am then it proceeds to show the main characters bed that has pillows and stuffed animals to make a body shape to deceive his mom and then his laptop that shows some of his messages about how he wants this girl that also is going to the party and his friend being outside to pick him up then it's going show him sneaking back in from the window then he gets caught by his mom then cuts to him being picked from his house and then dropped off at the party with his friend and then a longshot of a party and then they walk in. 

basically that's what it centers around but there was huge inspiration taken from  project X and from the hangover movies especially the part of him being caught was inspired by the scenes of when the parents come back in project X and the inspiration from the hangover is going to be the clues of what happened the day before when he gets back into his room .

Media Theory Research Post

 Hey there, I wish to implement the uses and gratifications theory which would revolve around teenagers or young adults relating or thinking back on something similar that happened in the film.

 I chose this because the film is going to be centered around rebellion and emotional conflict that is highly relatable to a teenage audience. The party scene provides intertainment and a way to escape reality, allowing viewers to see the and feel the excitement or stress of a situation without real consequences.I honestly feel many people would relate to this film opening either from sneaking out and going to parties back in the day to even people that are doing it nowadays. A film like this could really just let many peoples mind flow through their memories and experiences and maybe some feeling nostalgic.

By using Uses and Gratifications Theory, my project going to be made to engage the audience by reflecting their real life emotions and experiences, which helps the drama genre it has.

reflection on group meeting #1

Heyyyy, I feel like this group meeting was super productive and it brought many ideas into life. First the guy in the picture that is all the way to the right was initially thinking of doing an opening focusing on an athlete swimmer but he later changed his mind to another sport. For me, most of the group liked the sneaking out aspect of my film opening but they were telling me to add a conflict like maybe the main character had a crush on someone going to the party. Also while the mom is reprimanding her son, they the idea to do some credits there. initially thought about using the idea but my group and I preferred showing an empty setting of the characters room. they helped by suggesting he comes back at later time like at 7 am or even after and also suggested showing a little bit of the party. Overall I feel like this meeting was very helpful to me and to my classmates. Below is a picture of my group.
